At Openhouse,

robotics is not about flashy builds. It’s about first-principles thinking — learning how humans made the mechanical world, testing ideas through experiments, and applying those learnings in real, functioning models.

build machines with model manuals™

build machines with model manuals™

Start with simple machines, progress to code.

We follow the same arc the world followed: start with motion (simple machines), supercharge it with electricity, then add intelligence with code. Children do this via our Model Manuals that support independent building and differentiated depth — some children follow the guide closely, others upgrade, redesign, and make decisions as they grow:

level 1: mechanics

Build simple machines and see how parts like wheels, levers, and pulleys bring movement to life. Some of the models we build are:

Seesaw – A fun balancing build that shows how levers lift and move weight.

Tow Truck – A pulling machine that uses pulleys to lift and move loads.

Rickshaw – A rolling build that shows how wheels make movement smooth and easy.

level 2: electronics

level 3: programming

A practical way to build foundations

We use a library of life-sized, hands-on experiments to help children infer concepts like load, distance, balance, and speed. These are done in small groups to encourage peer learning — compare results, debate what happened, and try again. They are designed in a way that even our youngest students understand intuitively
